Several studies have shown that despite early parental concerns about delays in the normal development of their children, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Nigeria often tend to present very late to clinical practice settings, with an average age of about 7 years. Papers report that factors like stigma, ignorance about ASD, negative cultural practices, tortuous or delayed pathways to care, an inadequate number of trained personnel, inadequate health care facilities, poor access to existing facilities, and the burden of care, which may include both financial and psychological factors, are the major contributors to this prevalence. In an attempt to mitigate the trend of late diagnosis of ASD among children with neurodevelopmental disorders, this partnership aims to enhance childcare services by providing a more holistic approach to child care where children’s health needs meet their educational needs.

As part of the partnership, Neo Childcare will come in as Sabiteach’s health partner, providing meal planning and medical expertise for children with special needs.
